The loss of known habitat had the potential to impact the population as a whole (as the bush at Callam Brae is now known as a swift parrot site - and one where the birds remained for an extended period of time rather than "just passing through as implied in that comment").  Extinction by a thousand cuts is a very real proposition for this species currently.
